bocad 2024

Dear bocad customer and user,

 

bocad has now been part of the SCHULLER&Company family for 19 months. We started with bocad 2022 in July 2022 with the first bocad release under S&C and have delivered 9 bocad versions to date.

 

Today, after 13 months of development, we are pleased to present bocad 2024, the latest bocad software with many fascinating new features.

 

The version is now available at https://releases.schullerandcompany.eu/ and we recommend that you install it as soon as possible! The description of new features and corrections can be found in the release letter on the same page under Releases / 2024.1 / Documentation. A summary is attached to this email.

 

We have taken great care to ensure that bocad 2024 meets your expectations and is of high quality. Your most requested topics from the bocad survey of December 2022 have been included and implemented in the bocad development. Below are some highlights of bocad 2024:

 

• IFC interface

  • Release IFC4 is supported

  • export configurable IFC property set and user-defined attributes (UDAs)

  • Profile recognition during import improved

  • Release IFC2x3 is in the certification phase

 

• OpenGL

  • Referencing point clouds and models – models can be loaded, moved, shown and hidden in various formats. Points in the reference model can be picked.

  • Pick points – All commands with the pick points base, such as move and edit parts, change connections, copy, measure, ... can be used. After the first step to pick the elements, you can now design in the OpenGL view.

  • Grid and grid points can be shown and hidden

 

• Shared work – After importing a boc3db, associated drawings can be further processed.

 

• SmartInfo – Direct display of part and screw information when moving the mouse over the element. The element is highlighted in colour in all open views and drawings. The structure, presentation and display are controlled via settings.

 

• Other

  • Optimization of the position of outlines with texts

  • 3D dimensioning can be edited

• New employees at S&C –A warm welcome to Syju-Soundar Rajan (Development) and Peter Kußmann (Support), who joined the bocad team a few weeks ago.

 

• bocademy – From now on we offer the base training courses I bocad and II bocad Steel as an elearning course in German and English. In this way you can learn bocad in self-study with the support of videos, descriptions, exercises, forum and online sessions and receive the S&C bocad Expert certificate upon successful completion of the course. Detailed Information will follow.

 

• bocad License in the Cloud – When starting bocad, a license is blocked for the user via an Internet connection on the cloud server and released again when exiting. VPN is no longer required. When bocad is closed, the license can be unblocked for 2 days for working without the Internet.

 

• bocad in the Cloud – We will soon also be offering the bocad application in the cloud. bocad is installed on the cloud computer and is started via an internet connection. Working with bocad and saving jobs is done in the cloud. Information and Webinars will follow.

 

• bocad User Meeting 2023 – Yesterday, 200 participants came together in the RuhrCongress Bochum, Germany for interesting presentations, personal discussions and a cozy finale in the evening on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of bocad.
